When you are planning your next tea party, take a little time to plan your food buffet as well. Tea may be the star of your party, but the foods play a supporting role.
Tea parties are not meant to be meals in themselves. Instead, they are between meals. A way to stave off hunger before the main meals of the day are served. Therefore, you want the foods you serve to be more along the line of snacks or appetizers.
You want to show off the choices of foods for your guests in the best possible way. Setting up different heights on your buffet makes a better presentation and allows you to put more food on the buffet.
Tiered serving stands make this easiest. You do want the food to stand out, so chose simple serving stands. Clear are my personal choice. All the foods that I have prepared for my tea parties are then shown off.
If your tea party is small, a single tiered serving stand can hold all the food. Set it in the center of your table so that all the guests can help themselves.
On the other hand, if you are planning a larger tea party, several serving stands may be in order. Use them for different types of foods. Put finger sandwiches on one, biscuits or cookies on another, even use a third for your dessert items.
Planning your buffet presentation is an important part of your tea party planning. You want your guests to be able to choose the foods they would like to enjoy.
