Foods for a Bridal Shower Tea Party

If you are planning a bridal shower teaparty, you will need to think about the foods you want to serve. Tea time foods are usually finger foods. So you want to plan ahead for easy foods to make and serve. Here are some ideas to help you get started.

All your foods should be set up to be served buffet style. Your guests will talking with each other, walking around, sitting in small groups and in general mingling. Tea time is not a meal replacement, but a way to stave off hunger between meals, so you won't be planning a sit down meal for a tea party.

Think finger sandwiches. Small foods that can be eaten with out fork and knife. You'll want to keep each of your foods to just a bite or two. Your guests will be handling a teacup and saucer, so they will need to be able to place the food item on the saucer next to the teacup.

You can have a sweets-only food selection, or mix sandwiches and biscuits with sweets. Cookie cutters make the easiest way to create delightful food items of about the right size. Use shapes that match your theme. A popular theme for a bridal shower is hearts. It's such a romantic time in the life of the bride, so hearts make a fun way to honor the bride. Heart-shaped cookie cutters are easy to find.

Alternating heart-shaped foods with floral-shaped foods is a feminine look. Also, use food coloring to dye the food items to match your color scheme. Of course, red or pink hearts is traditional, but then you can make your flower-shaped foods in yellow.

Just a little tip here: be careful of the color look with some foods. Typically, green and brown colors don't work well with foods. They become less appetising, unless you are talking about chocolate of course!

Find some great recipes for finger sandwiches at Whimsical Teapots and Teacups. Also look around at some of the suggestions for tea samplers. You can present a wonderful Bridal Shower Tea Party that your guests and the bride will be talking about for a long time to come.
